anyone else getting the itch to start burning!!!!!!!!!!

I myself am done with this hot humid weather and looking forward to fall/winter months. Fall is my favorite time of the year and with my wood, stove and clean chimney ready to go I am looking forward to the crackle and pop of the wood. Also look forward to those cold rainy days of late fall sitting in front of the stove, the only light in the room coming from the fire and a whysky in hand I am counting the weeks. I am in Ontario Canada we still have a good 6-8 weeks before i can fire the old girl up!!

But; Yes I do know where you're coming from ; )

My 22YO daughter is inclined to burn way before I am. She was visibly upset last August when she walked in to see me replacing the damper assembly.... "It's going to be OK this week right?" She really lieks to cozy up after a long day. Fortunately she's good at running the stove : ).

Nah . . . I get my burning kicks with camp fires . . . there will be plenty of burning going on from September to May inside . . . although I do like the Fall weather of warm days and cool nights.

I cannot say I'm not looking forward to burning again, but I'm really enjoying the sunny outdoor weather.

The earlier I start burning, the faster I get through the hard won woodpile.

Maybe we'll get the perfect fall, with pleasant warm days and enough of a chill in the evenings to justify a small fire........ ;-)

I am done with the humid hot weather as well. I love the fall, I think it is the most beautiful time of the year. There is nothing more refreshing than a brisk fall day. I do miss sitting by the stove at night and watching the fire. I find it very relaxing especially with a nice cold brew in the hand. Hell, watching the fire is more entertaining than most of the shows on TV IMHO...
I am a little nervous though because I have so much more to learn...
But like Dix told me..."It's gonna be a bumpy ride".....of course she was right...and I am ready to fasten the ole seat belt again because I do love wood burning....

Slightly.
I watched Ray's t-5 burning vid and it went away.
In 6-7 weeks, I'll be burning and it won't stop 'til mid-May at least.
Need to make a slight adjustment on the stove placement to line up the flue, but the stove is clean and flue is too.
I can wait.

Another one who is happy to see the hot go away.....at least for a while. There is no doubt we'll see more before we start burning the stoves again. I don't really look forward to the burning every fall until that first time it gets chilly. We also don't sit around watching the fire but we surely enjoy the heat. It is also somewhat satisfying when someone walks into our house and comments on how good that wood heat feels.

I do also look forward to fall as it is my favorite too. Then I start looking forward to December as that is when I usually start cutting wood. Yes, all these years and I still enjoy it.

I too love the fall. Favorite season. Wear a big ass wool sweater, go for walks in the woods. Nothing like a nice 12 degree day.

However, like BB, having 70 until May would also be a great change. I don't think many people get as much snow as I do and by April it's very discouraging.

Amen abby4000! I can't stand this hot and humid weather and just told the wife the other day I can't wait to get the Napoleon burning again and she said "I know" with a sigh, doesn't quite share my enthusiasum! But a nice glass of red wine is my choice of beveridge while sitting by the fire watching the secondaries do their thing!

I am totally behind on splitting wood, so no, I am not getting the itch to burn at all. I am instead starting to think about some kind of wood splitter. Was trying to do it all with a maul, has worked for the past 3 or 4 years, but am getting older and more tired.
