The baffle in my Drolet Eco 35 is completely warped. We can't even slide it together anymore. Does the manufacturer sell them? I know the store I bought the stove from doesn't have them...or can I have someone make one for me?
Also, what would happen if I burned the stove, with no baffle at all?

I don't think there are many Drolet burners out there on the forum, but if you were more specific in your post subject headings, with the stove brand and model, you may get better reads on your threads from the few Drolet owners on here. I have no idea how your stove functions, but if it is like my Englander, removing the baffle plate will result in the heated air bypassing the heat exchangers, and going directly out the vent pipe. This would result in low stove efficientcy, and lower stove output temps. I would rather hear from a Drolet owner though. Good luck

Check out the Drolet site for more info. (broken link removed to http://www.drolet.ca/product.aspx?CategoId=5&Id=424)

Perhaps you already know they don't show a replacement baffle part number; Suggest contacting Drolet direct or the dealer for a replacement part number.
(broken link removed to http://www.drolet.ca/contact-us.aspx) If not available they could give you the details to make or repair yours, if you are handy or have a friend who with a welder it shouldn't be a big deal.

You may want to download and print out a owners manual if you don’t have one.

Thank you...

I know a guy who does metal work, so I'm hoping he'll be able to help me. The real crapper is that Drolet itself is in Quebec. Everything needs to be shipped, and you know, with postal being the way it is, I might be waiting until the next burn season. Which was also part of the reason that I wanted one made. Now I'm concerned about it being a special kind of metal. I suppose the metal guy would know what to use though. And I certainly will not try burning without the baffle...

i have lots of things made by a local fabricator. usually if i need something like that i would just bring it in and a few hours later its made. funny thing is its sometimes less expensive than order facory replacements (especially if you have to pay shipping) good fabricators can look at the piece, or if need be they should have some calipers around to take a thickness measurement. thumb through the phone book under steel fabricators

How old is your stove? Do you feel the failure is premature? If so contact Drolet and let them know about it. If they still make the stove they must have the baffles. Perhaps they would spring for a no cost replacement. Email is cheap-let them feel a little heat.
If this doesn't work ask for details on how to make one; still I believe fabricating one would not be very difficult since you have the old one. Might make it a bit thicker and it will last longer.

Yes the baffle is baffling... here is the key to the baffle. The baffle on the Drolet like the Flame (both are SBI products, pretty much the same stove) is confusing. we get alot of calls about this, because the manual does a terrible job of explaining how to put it together. remember this, the baffle has a right side and left side. the right side of the baffle is the side where the damper is located. the right side of the baffle has a tab which when inserted into the stove faces down toward the burn pot and slides toward the right side of the stove. these 35's are great stoves however you have to keep them CLEAN.... if you need a new baffle I am sure i can get one out to you just let me know...

My stove was only put in in December. Which is why I was surprised by the amount of warping and flaking going on. Maybe I will contact Drolet, it hardly seems right to have to replace it, especially if it's a poorly made, or defective product.

I'm interested in a new baffle. Do you want to PM me some details?
Also, I don't think that the baffle being screwed up is an issue due to not cleaning the stove, we clean it everyday. It seems warped from the heat.
And they really do do a horrible job of describing where the baffle goes in the manual. After some trial and error we figured it out, with no help from the manual at all.
