Similar to you: MS 460 and MS170 but also use MS 270 and just picked up Echo cs-306.
Would also like to pick up something around 60 - 65 cc.
I use the MS 170 as often as I can.

My combo seems pretty good but I suppose you're talking dream pair on an unlimited budget.
I may need a 3rd. Maybe I'll score one of those rental Makita 6400s and bump it to a 7200.
I should probably learn how to run one of these things well before I get too carried away. LOL

I'm pretty happy with my 55 Rancher and 372 combo.
I guess I'd like a 357 to upgrade the little saw, and maybe add a real monster to the upper end but then I'd need 3.
Well and a new pruning saw for the apple trees so I'd need 4 at least.

Very happy with my 372XPW/346XP setup so far. Seems like a great balance between power and nimbleness.

I would probably go with a Dolmar 5100 to go with the 7900 I already have... Not a big priority though, as the 7900 does everything I need pretty well, bit hefty for limbing, but I find my little Pull-on isn't that much better. I might consider a pro-grade in the 30-40cc range instead, but it would need to be a LOT lighter than the 5100 to make a sale...

My JRed's work great together for me! 2150 with an 18" bar and a 2159 with a 20" bar. Bought both used. Haven't had a need for anything bigger yet.
Like all tools it would depend what your work load environment is.
Local tree fellers I know of like Stihls, 280 for cutting from the bucket truck and on the ground, 220 for rappelling up with.
Probably rarely cut anything over 3 feet diameter, this area has been farmed out numerous times in the last 300 years.
You couln'd do much damage very fast with either on a redwood.

Pro-grade Husqvarna or Stihl for both, one in the 40-50cc range, and the other in the 60-70cc range. If it could be only one it would be something in the 50-60cc range, again pro-grade only, and in all cases nothing more than an 18" bar.
I'll eventually replace my 041 with a 361, but for right now I can't complain. The 041 cuts well with a 20" bar and being 20+ years old, it has given itself a muffler mod. Sometimes I just wish for something lighter!
I would agree with the sizing you specify, but would go a little farther on the ranges. Two saw set up 30-40cc 14" bar & 70 80cc 20-24" bar, one saw 50cc 18" bar. Also don't forget Dolmar! They make class leading saws in the 50cc and 80cc classes, at a real bargain to boot.Sealcove said:
I think it also depends on how you run the two saw combo. Bone stock Dolmar has the edge, if you prefer a two-saw combo that is eventually going to be ported or modded Husky or Stihl is the way to go, although Husky takes a mod better from my understanding and experience.
