With the threat of typhoon Nuri looming, I hope those of you up in Alaska hunker down and prepare well. I'm certain that this is common practice there, but having seen the effects of a warm weather superstorm from Hurricane Sandy it can't be stressed enough to prepare for the worst. The Northeast will get the arctic blast next week, but that's minutia in the grand scheme of things.

As one of the many loyal viewers of Discovery Channel's "The Deadliest Catch", thinking of the safety of the fishing crews, camera teams, and the Coast Guard first responders up there. 50+ foot waves and predicted lowest recorded barometric pressures in the Bering Sea are nothing you want to be fishing, filming, or rescuing in !!
