The manual says to NOT pull out the Big E damper more than 3/4".

On setting 3 or 4 with the damper close to or at 3/4" out, the top of the flame, when it is high looks a bit lazy.

The base of the flame looks kind of tight and blow-torchy but again the top can sway back and forth some.

Is this a proper setting/flame?

Or should the flame look like a blow torch from top to bottom with little to no sway.

To acheive that, or something close to that the damper would have to be pulled out past 3/4", which is a no-no in the manual.

Thanks,

FG.

Then do not do it.
