Blaze King Identification

Hello group, great forum here. I'm getting ready to make the leap into my first wood burning stove (I do have 2 seasoned cords of wood ready to go).

Any who, I have come across this stove and I am wondering if anyone can identify what model it is. I can only get a hold of the owners wife and she is doesn't want to go out to the barn and check it. Specifically, is this a UL listed model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This stove looks to be a Princess Classic without side heat shields which will require more clearance. The clearances will be detailed an a tag @ the back of the stove.
This would have a 6" outlet collar. If its an 8" then it will be known as a King Classic. It is indeed a Cat model and one of the proven old and tested true design which are still made to date. A UL listed stove for sure.
A solid heater it is. Seasoned dry wood that you have is the best start. Welcome to the Hearth forum, also a great way to start your wood burning adventure. Hope all is intact and in good shape.

Princess, for sure. I'll agree it doesn't have side shields, though you could never see them from that angle. They are completely different from the shields on the Ultra, and fit pretty tight to the sides. What I do see, however, is that the knob on the bypass handle is a bit charred. That paint looks mighty shiny on top. Maybe it is just the flash, but I see rust spots on the front, and into the blower housing. Looks like there is some fresh paint on the flue collar as well. The housing on the top that the blowers go into should be flat on the top of the stove, and that doesn't appear to be the case. Again, maybe it's the flash or camera angle.

What I'm getting at, look very closely for signs of overfire. The only way I can see it happening with this stove is if the bypass is left open. If it was ever glowing, it would be on the top, from the front of the flue collar and into a widening circle around the back. Look down inside of the flue collar with the bypass open. There is a frame that holds the gasket for the bypass door, and it will be warped and bent into some funky shapes.

Also check the cat. Open the loading door, reach in and up and pull the flame shield off. If it's plugged, or the face of it is crumbling, count on replacing it. You can look at the back side through the flue collar. It's around $300 for a new one.

Thanks for the quick responses. Space is a concern for me, can I purchase the side shields after market?

Also, when I go look at it I will look closely for over fire signs.
