Blaze King Purchase - Problems?

Hey Guys,

A couple weeks ago I posted on the forum about a Princess Classic that I was looking at. Any who, I drove 5 hours to buy it for $400... and I thought I was doing pretty good. Tonight I had the local Blaze King dealer over and quote $2342 to install the fireplace and chimney.

My problems came when I went out to the shop and started cleaning up the stove. I noticed that the bar that passes underneath the by pass is nice and warped. jeff_t warned me of this, but when I looked at it when I got there it appeared to be evenly bent so I thought this was the way it came from the factory. Attached are the pictures. Do I have a boat anchor? Everything else on the stove seems nice and straight.

Nah, that's nothing. I assume that is there to keep you from shoving a piece of wood up in there and not be able to close the bypass. I suppose it could get bent that way, too. Looks like it just needs a new gasket.

What's the rest of the stove look like? How about the cat?

That bar is bent from heat. It was over fired before. I have owned and ran blaze kings for 10 years. Three of mine look just like that.

It's fine. Mine is bent a bit and I've never overfired my stove.

If it was seriously overfired, the channel the gasket sits in would be warped badly. From the pics, it looks okay.
