I burned bituminous coal last year. I’m still going to burn it this year but I also plan on burning pellets. Menards had them for $174 a ton and they forgot to take the sale tag down when they started their 11% sale so the lady gave them to me for sale price and I got the 11% rebate. Pretty good deal.

The reason I am burning both this year is because I put the coal stove in the basement and really struggled to get the heat upstairs. However my basement was a balmy 85 all winter and as I have a little hobby shop set up down their I was loving it. I was getting coal for $70 a ton last year so the cost savings is pretty mind boggling. I wish I had done it 20 years ago.
