It was all over the news all day. If you are demolishing a building and it falls wrong that is pure poor execution.

The most recent accusations are that the crane operator was under the influence of Marijuana and was also taking pain medication.

It is all over the news here in the Philly area obviously and was updated today. Yep, the equipment operator turned himself in facing 6 counts of involuntary man slaughter and a slew of other charges. Not only did he test positive for pot, he has a FULL cast on his right arm, hand to elbow! Granted, I've never operated anything bigger than a Bobcat, but I would think a huge cast like that would limit his mobility.

It had also been reported that while they had all of the proper permits, it has been learned that ANYONE can get a demolition permit in Philly, no special license, no certifications, just a few forms to fill out. There were also numerous complaints to Philadelphia Licensing and Inspections supposedly too by concerned area residents and other business owners warning it looked really unstable yet their calls and emails were never answered.

Such a shame, awful loss of life than was probably preventable.
