I am looking to buy a cab50 and was curious what the pellet usage is for this stove. The brochure says 5.8lb/hr and I was wondering if this is the max feed rate and would it be lower if the feed rate was lower. I am trying to compare the economics as I currently heat a 800sqft insulated woodshop with kerosene and wanted to know if it was better to go with a pellet stove. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Without even crunching the numbers, I can tell you that you would be much better off with pellet heat vs kerosene.

Welcome Chuck!
There are several people here with the Cab 50's. Search for some threads and I have seen some about pellet consumption for them. Tim above is correct too. It's all in what will be the best case for you and how much heat and how often you will use it.

You can get that stove new at Farm and Land Supply in MN and WI for $1,299 plus $200 shipping. Then you need the vent pipe and remaining items for the install which can add up depending on what you need to do. Use the search box upper left here and look around. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info, I can't find the company that you recommended, do you know if they have a website? The price you you gave is a great price, it is about $300.00 cheaper then anywhere else I've priced that stove.
