Anyone notice that the second generation of the Caddy Advanced is now on PSG's website? Of course, this is JUST after I installed the first generation. Oh well.

I couldn't find much info, so I used the trusty Chat GPT. here's what I dug up:

In digging further, it looks like the emissions and HHV improved, due to more temperature sensors in the combustion chamber. Not sure what was done to the ECM. I'm not sure how trustworthy these numbers are since AI is pulling from separate resources for comparison.

Thoughts?

On the heat commander owners facebook page a SBI engineer commented on a post stating "The Heat Commander was due for it certificate renewal. Componant wise it’s the basically the same. Few tweaks in the programing but hard to see the différence between the two versions."

I replied asking if these updates could be installed on the original heat commander and he replied
" Yes it could but for this update you wouldn’t notice the difference"

I see. So basically revising the furnace to meet recertification requirements under the EPA? So it seems the testing methods may have changed more than efficiency.

That makes sense. I didn't think it was a very big change with the Advanced and Heat Commander having been out only five years or so. Most furnaces are out much longer than that before any major revision.

Well they need to recertify every 5 years same with kuuma VF100 so I assume since they were due, now was the time to make some updates since if they made updates earlier in the life cycle they would have to recertify anyways

I saw the same thing and wondered the same thing. My furnace would have been an earlier model of the advanced. I can't see a difference between the advanced and II. Maybe a tweak in programming, or the test?

They told me it was a tweak in the programming and i asked if you could update the older furnaces and they said yes but you wouldnt notice a difference
