Can I mix what pipe I use or do I have to get it all of the same manufacturer?

They all use different ways to lock the pipes together. So I would say NO! Not unless you want leaks and smoke in the house.

great, thanks. Also, I am doing a HORIZ. vent out the side of the house. What end cap is the better venting one?

How far outside the home should I sent it?

Right now, we are using a horizontal vent with a 'jet tip' on it turned downward.

We are thinking about trying this one if we have any problems:

The tip is about 20" off of the house. The dealer told me that it had to be a minimum of 12", but I honestly don;t think I would have been comfortable with it any less than 18"-ish.

This is the most common tip for horizontal installs.....less affected by winds.
