I bought a used Cemi Concept II insert last year. We just had our fireplace and chimney cleaned and inspected. I installed the insert this evening. However the “faceplate” or surround is just a bit too small for my fireplace. Does anyone know how or where I can find something a bit larger to try and keep all of my heated air from escaping up the chimney?

Put a block-off plate in the damper area to seal off the chimney.

For some reason it won’t allow me access to the reference article. The insert I have does not vent directly to the chimney. Rather it vents into the fireplace. So I don’t believe I can seal off the damper area.

That is no longer legal and not safe. It must have a liner attached.
