Hello
The old Breckwell P2000 is a great stove. The one I am working on was made July 1996. Those old dingy brass cowel rods in the upper and lower grills just do not cut the mustard these days! I tried getting the Nickel Cowl rods from Breckwell but, that failed because they were not available anymore. Also solid nickel rounds at $50 per pound and then putting an engineered polished finish for another $200 for a total of $400 and a new Nickel door for $640 is just too much for my poor old stove!
So I decided to paint the door black along with the stove and get some nice solid stainless steel rounds milled that I can shine up! I had to get the stainless steel rods not the cold rolled steel rods for $25 for a better look.
Has anyone done this?

The Breckwell brass rods are actually aluminum rods with a brass coating. Costs less to make! LOL They would shine up better, I agree. Yes I know your preference is the richer brass and gold look. It is a good style. It does seem that the new look of nickel or steel on black is more neutral so it would appeal to more buyers and match more decors. So that is why I did it and now since it is more sales worthy it is worth more $$ in my pocket. LOL
