Most of my immediate neighbors burn wood. Mostly smoke dragons and green wood, and I wonder about our air quality, as we are tucked between Long John Mountain and Jumpoff Mountain.

My neighbor grew up here-his extended family owned/owns many of the old cabins. His wife was telling me that back when he was a kid all the neighbors would come out and watch chimney fires like it was fireworks on the fourth of July! :gulp:

I grew up in rural Ontario. As a kid any fire was attended by all the neighbors be it chimney fires, barn fires or house fires. I found it strange, but imagine it's a bit of a hold-over from days when the neighbors would be there to help actually put out the fire and/or re-build afterward. Now with fire departments being fast & effective (generally) all there is to do is watch.

Yoda, say's stay away from the bottle.
