Most auger jams can be prevented. :)
It has been 1.5 years so almost 2 summer seasons. Just pulled mine and the end is getting a little nasty near the tip so I pulled out the wire wheel.
Slid it back in and it turns like butter!

I do not want food sticking to the cooking grates so what about ash sticking to the auger?
