Hi all,

I am designing my hearth for a PE T5 and a True North (would like to upgrade in the future but can't afford a T5 yet).

It will be a corner install in a small room (10 x 12) in the cabin.

There is a wooden windowsill that will be 7" at its closest from the side of the T5. It is about 3" above the top of the stove. Is this ok or do I need to cut it to get to 8" or build a shield somehow?

As far as I know (maybe not much) the clearance is to the closest combustible. In my case, I have a corner install and the clearance is 14 inches. I have a window sill that's sticks out an inch, so the clearance is to the sill (vertical plane) and it is around three inches above the stove top. But I think that if you go above and beyond the minimum clearances, it will save you a lot of headache in the future. If you put a shield in then that would, of course, cut clearances considerably.
