In The Woods
I decided to pick up this clevis hook with a latch (rated 6600 lbs.) and take the d-shackle off and put back in the winch gear bag.

Picture 100_2243 is the winch with the d-shackle and 100_2244 is the new clevis hook.

Hooked up and ready for winching down some sugar maple, I have to bend the cotter key some more in the a.m.

Looks like you are ready to hook it up!!!

That clevis sure will make quick time on attaching the rope to pull down your leaner, instead of removing the pin in the "D" ring. Just watch the safety catch on that clevis, make sure it's on the hook before pulling; it'll mess it up real quick.....

there ya' go Zap- now you can use the D-ring on the back of the quad. Use that as an anchor to strap to bigger trees and really give the winch a work out.

You'll be much happier with that Zap.
