Question:

I recently purchased a house with a coal stove called a "Coal Chubby" in it. I have no experience with coal stoves, but I would like to use it. Can you give me some guidance on how to operate this stove? I've been having a difficult time getting fires going in it. Also, do you have the name and phone number of the manufacturer? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:

It's a good coal stove. The maker is long out of business, but parts should be available at Woodman Associates - https://www.hearth.com/woodman. You will find detailed operating instructions for coal stoves at https://www.hearth.com/what/coaltips.html.
