I was going to try mixing corn and pellets and run them in my st croix afton bay. The manual says 50/50 mix and it will work fine. I can get corn from a local mill for 9.00 for a 100lb bag (is that cheap?). What issues do i face if i decide to give it a go.

Thanks in advance
Jim

do you guys with stoves that can burn corn/pellet mix have regular pellet
vents on the stove or did you have to install corn vent for them?

Does corn vent only needed if you plan on using corn exclusively?

No point to my question....just curious

I have only pellet vent installed and that is a good question about it. What says you guys? My manual says its fine if mixing.

I specifically bought and installed pipe that could handle both corn and pellets, excel brand pellet pipe.

I think it was GVA who touched base on the corn/pipe topic recently.

My stove can burn a 50/50 mix and for the first couple years
I burned a corn mix, maybe not always 50-50. But at least
75-25 pellets/corn. My piping is Simpson Duravent.
Didn't see any extra corrosion while burning corn. Maybe
straight up corn might be different. Maybe a different make/model
stove might give different results. Dunno.

Can't comment on the $9 for 100lb bag. It's been a couple years
since I've bought corn so I have no clue what would be a good
price for my area let alone yours.
