Hello,

I am rebuilding a Vermont Castings Resolute. I am unsure of the exact Resolute edition. I do have the serial number. The stove plaque says the stove was safety tested on 9/25/80. Can anyone provide me with the exact model number?

I'm having trouble finding the right size gasket for the door glass. Various sources indicate various size gaskets. Does anyone know the right size for this gasket? I've include a few pictures of the door.

Thanks!

5 feet of 5/16" is listed for Resolute, Vigilant, Defiant, Intrepids.

0043 & 0042 Resolute I and II were made from 3/5/80 to 6/28/93
0043 & 0042 Resolute III were made from 6/29/83 to 6/14/88

4 feet of 3/16" is listed for Resolute Acclaim.

0041 Resolute Acclaim was made from 9/26/88 to 3/26/94
2490 Resolute Acclaim is listed 4/26/94 to present in my old book.

Here's the kit for under 20 bucks if you're doing the whole stove. It also gives gasket specs;

I got a number of parts for my Resolute 1, which looks exactly like your stove with the exception is mine didn't have glass doors, from Cozy Cabin Stove and Fireplace shop in Warrensburg, NY. I ordered over the phone. The order wasn't exactly right, but they're making it right. they seem OK to deal with. Perhaps you can help me. Because I'm replacing the original cast iron door insert with glass, I don't know exactly how to install the glass. Like your stove, mine will have two pieces of glass. Should there be a gasket between the two? How is the glass held into the frame? The parts place sent me four "glass clips" but I don't know quite how they attach and hold the glass.

You need to find a schematic diagram for your stove to see how all the parts fit together. If the glass in the door is set up anything like the older Defiant Encores, the two panes will be separated by a stiff metal wire like a coat hanger covered in a gasket material. A gasket material will probably go in between the front pane and the metal of the door, probably something small like 1/4". The entire glass assembly is probably held in with clips which are secured into the door with screws. Be careful when tightening down the metal clips on the glass, otherwise you can easily break the panel of glass which the clip comes in contact with.

You may be able to find schematic diagram and any other parts you need on http://www.discountstoveparts.com/

If you have a problem in the future, you can just start a new thread. They seem to prefer that here rather than updating old threads.

Many thanks. Between you and other segments of this site, I'm pretty sure I can assemble the stove.

Update: Here is what Midwest Hearth lists for the Resolutes:
