Are there any tricks for telling pellet quality with a boiler? I have been told that you can tell by how much heat the unit throws (in the basement) For me I cant even tell its running... with out looking or hearing blower so any temperature variations are VERY hard to detect.
Also with a Harman, doesn't it adjust its self thus making heat output an unreliable way of determining pellet quality?
Thoughts

There is not really and easy or inexpensive way.
A BTU-meter will tell you exactly how much heat gets into the water.
It does not tell you the standby loss.
Then you keep track of the Lbs of pellets you put in the hopper.
Some pellet boilers, like the Windhager BioWIN, track the pellet consumption

You need to track Flow in GPM and Supply water temp and Return water temp
