Hello

I am thinking of getting some, they sure do cut down on the dust getting into the squirrel cage and clogging up the fan blades!

My Englander 25-PI and 10-CDV have them. The insert 25-PI needs cleaning more often (about every month during heavy use) since is closer to the floor than the 10-CDV. I do it every month anyway since I have to move the stove out of the hearth for cleaning vent and combustion blower and everything else that gets dirty inside. I have not tried without it so no comparison if it is better with or without it.

I use a cheap furnace filter that I cut to size to cover the outside of the intake stove grates (case) on my Quads. They are held on by small magnets. When they get dirty I'll take them off and wash them or cut new and replace. It's amazing the amount of dust they stop from being sent thru the air over and over.

Hello

As a comparison, I worked on an Englander 25-PFS that a lady purchased used and had it for 10 years. When I came to clean the stove, both convection blowers (Yes there are 2 - 140 CFMs in the beast) had a layer of dust completely covering the screens but the blowers were still working. Over the weekend I worked on an Enviro EF-2 that had no screen on the convection blower. The squirrel cage blades were so chocked full of dust, that the motor overheated , the bearing ceased up, and the thermal circuit opened in the motor. Now the stove really overheated and then the 250 Deg F Hi Limit switch opened up and blew to prevent the house fire! (It would not reset!). Now they are without heat until I can 2nd day air a new blower because the ground shipments are not running this week! Just my experience, it seems like the screens may be well worth it!

Interesting....

How does the screen attach. Looks like it goes over the outside and then do you put on the gasket or a gasket between screen as well?

Hi

It looks like they screw right on, but you may have to drill holes to align with your blower's screws. I will see when they come in. Currently they are backordered. It should not take long.
