Started a project to reroof a shed this year. I went to order metal roofing to match the cabin roof. The color is discontinued. Ugh. I think I found a color close. They aren’t connected so nobody will ever notice a slight difference in color, but it wasn’t the news I wanted to hear! If the cabin roof gets damaged it might mean a whole new roof vs a couple panels.

You might be able to have other roofing painted to match, however I believe those panels are powder coated. Try to find out if yours is a standard color that can be purchased. You might find a shop that will powder coat?

I had screws left over from the roof. The color is close. Close enough for a cabin at least.

I can’t see a real difference. A guy that paints cars all day would probably call my eyesight into question, lol!

One more piece of ice and water/flashing and it’s dried in. But it’s raining now, lol. At least it’s a small gap right along the wall, under the overhang. I might be able to get it later, and I might need to get it tomorrow . It’ll get dried in.

Then I wait until the panels and metal trim arrive.

I've been doing some interior painting this winter. I had to repair holes in the walls ect. I had some "color match"paint made up so I didn't have to re-paint (at least not right away). It is surprising how easily you can notice a slight variation in color once it's in place. I will have to re-paint all those areas I tried to match. With the natural aging of the paint in the outdoors, it will be impossible to match, but probably after it's been there for awhile it will be less noticeable. Hopefully your roof will not get damaged.

I was looking at the roof while I was up on the shed and noticed a dent in a couple ribs. Gravity must have helped a branch come down. ‘Tis what it ‘tis.

You really gonna put the flashing tape on top of the siding like that?
That’s just the first step. There’s going to be flashing covering it.

Ok, so back story on the crappy shingle job.

Years ago we had a flood in the spring. I had 16” of water in the cabin. Looking at lake records there hadn’t been a flood that bad since the 1930s. I jacked the cabin up 20”. I had to pull the shed off the side to do it. The shed was rebuilt, but I was running out of time and didn’t get to completely finish the project. I threw the old roof with really old red shingles on top and called it a day, to revisit later. Brown shingles were probably remnants from a fix I had to do on a customer’s house. I’ve never had a structure with brown shingles. All the cabins on site have red shingles. This project is being done much later than I thought I would. There’s lots of excuses, life, kid, starting 2 businesses, and.. well fun. Kid is currently healing from a sports injury so I’m getting stuff done I haven’t had time to before. Cleaning out that shed, I found 4 pairs of tin snips… life has been chaos.

It’ll be flashed when I’m done, even if I have to tow my trailer with a built in brake up and bend all the trim myself.

I mean at the top, the flashing should must go behind the siding
Ideally, yes. I’m not going to tear the wall open for this though.

When riding by on a galloping horse, that will look perfect! 👍

Inside the shed? I’m not worried about that. I don’t get a lot of of weather along that wall. The shingle patch job that was on there was there for over a decade and had just started to lift some paint.
