Do you need an adjustable DWP length?

Av searched a bit and came up with nothing.

Well I have ICC Ultra-Black DWP from the PE Install and have bought two 45's for the BK install. Well having measured again and again it turns out perfect.

Straight out of the thimble : 45* to 12" to 45* to 36" onto the Princess. It just all goes together like magic.

My question : Do I NEED to have a slip in there? Is it code? Again, cannot find any answers.

The pipe will come apart easy for cleaning.

It's worth posting when everything falls together like magic. Actually, I've gotten pretty lucky so far with the few installs I've done...
If the flue is easy to clean without removing the stove, you don't really need a slip. It might make assembly a bit easier in some cases...

The difference is that your install goes out the wall. These installs sometime work out fine, although I always use a slip. It's almost always an inch short or so.
If the install is straight up, the pipe traps the stove in place without a slip.

Woody : Fingers crossed it works out. If not I will have to revert back to the 90* as ICC pipe is pretty hard to get ahold of around here.

Webby : The pipe goes out through 2' of chimney and up 18' of excel. I imagine the draft will be ok with the 90*.

If anything the pipe Might be 3/4 to long.

Has anyone ever taken 3/4 off the bottom outer wall on DWP. I have ready several times that it should not Be cut.

we have had the odd occasion where 1/2 to a inch was needed to be cut and it's doable. According to code though once it certified your not allowed to modify it. The way I look at taking off an inch is that it's not that much different than drilling a hole in the pipe for a probe thermometer.

Thanks. Yeah it 37F here right now but gonna warm up. We are in the South East corner of the provence around 1hr drive from the BC / MT border. It is raining right now, just rarther unpleasant.

So I will need to strip the BK off its crate and move it up into the house then down into the basment.

Hoping it dont rust out before the first burn.

Tarp it, ratchet strap it to an appliance dolly and it should go in the house pretty quickly. Be sure to have some (sober) helpers. They are heavy stoves.

Door and fans are separate, will pull the fire bricks.

Have a rather decent dolly or sack truck as us Euro descents call them. Two rather handy helpers. Should be a walk in the park. I just don't want it to get wet. I have a bag of soaker pads that I will use to keep it from getting scratched up.

Not a heavy stove. I moved mine out of my F350 and into the house, up onto the hearth by myself. Only one stair though.

Pretty sure that there are two layers of brick on the bottom and the door comes off easily.

Oh and the bugger is screwed to the pallet. One of the screws is hidden in the ash drawer under the ash pan.

Oh yeah. Those pesky screws. We Got her off the truck and onto a large sack truck. Then up 7 steps and down 10 or something like that.



Managed to get a 24" length of ICC Ultra black off the dealer for half price (Canceled order) so will use the 18" slip instead of the 36" solid piece.
