I am moving to an off grid location and an looking to standardize all my fuel based requirements to diesel fuel. Propane specifically is outrageously expensive ($50+ to refill a 20lb cylinder ?) So I don't want anything propane based.

I'm having a hard time with small vented heaters for things like hunting blinds. The smallest unit I have located is the "Pioneer Trekker" stove, which I think might be a bit too powerful for my hunting blind. It is $570 + the cost of a 3" vent and flashing.

I get the impression that there are some European companies that makes the actual vaporizing burners as their product and then sell them to OEM's who integrate them into complete stoves.

The attraction of course is that there are natural draft, "no electricity required" type products, perhaps with a bit of help from a barometric damper.

There are also marine type diesel heaters like the Sig 100 diesel heater, but I bought their "Cozy Cabin" marine heater and was amazed how crude it was (open flame propane burner positioned under a cone connected to 1" flue ). For $450 I expected more and have no idea how such a device could even be legal for use on a boat...

If anyone is familiar with a vented natural draft diesel heater that goes lower than 4000btu/hr on low, I would appreciate some feedback. Or if you have seen the Sig 100 in person and can comment on how it is made.

Thank you.

The Kumas are even bigger... Looking for smaller.

Less than $20 bucks to refill a 30 pounder at Becks Trailer. It's about six miles north of St. Johns right here in Michigan!

I'm talking a location in Southern CO. Prices seem to vary mightily out there. If I have to drive anywhere for propane that will cost more than the fuel itself. Diesel is locally available 24/7/365 and I can haul it myself.
