Does weed burning kill the root?

As an alternative to spraying gallons of roundup in my gravel driveway I’m thinking of buying a propane weed burner. I’m sure it will destroy any exposed weeds/grass but will it kill the root too? I held off on spraying the driveway this year as we have a new puppy and didn’t want it chewing treated weeds. Tried vinegar, that worked on some younger weeds but not all of them.

Flame weeding kills the above-ground portion of the weed, but it doesn't kill the roots. Flame weeding kills some annual weeds for good, but perennial weeds often regrow from the roots left in the soil. Perennial weeds require several treatments at two to three-week intervals.

You may have to retreat until the root has used up all stored energy.

Did some burning but it was a pain in the ass. it’s slow going and I had to bend over slightly the whole time as the burner seems sized for a short person. Demoralizing to think I’ll have to do it more than once.

i use Killex in the premix that you just hook to your garden hose for my yard it works great and i always have my neighbours asking how i keep my yard so weed free when their yards are 50% plus weeds. You have a issue with the dog eating the weeds in the driveway now? If you can keep him free of the driveway for a few days especially after a rain then you will be good.. Unless he eats every treated weed in the driveway then its not going to hurt him since the concentration is so low. What i like about the killex is it seems to stop new growth, i have tried a few other name brands and this by far worked the best.

Lots of houses have been burned down by people burning weeds. That and it doesn't really work very well means I use poison.

There other more entertaining uses for weed burners though so it's a good item to have.
