Donut Ash that would put crispey cream to shame, with picture

Have this thing set on 6-6, 2-8-1. OAK installed and vented out the wall up three and 45 down. Burning softwood and hardwood...had to get what i could get. I get this much ash after i get home from work...like 10 hour day. what gives? I shop vac out the inside once a day after i get home from work. (broken image removed)

Mine does the same thing, set at 1-5-1, 5/9. I scoop out the ash, and let her burn.

And what stove are we feeding the high ash pellets to? Look like the wheat screening pellets I experimented with.

Email must be slow to update tonight, sorry I didn't see all the replies......I am using an Englander 55shp-10...it's crazy how many hardware stores will talk down on them. I am just starting out in my first house and was pretty proud to get it. Right now I am using a mixture of Penningtons, Lignetics, and one other I can't remember. I just throw them in as they are stacked in the basement. They are mostly hardwood...I think one brand is Yellow Pine.

Is it normal to get that much ash after about 10 hours of burn?

It's an Englander thing. All pellets do that in my burn pot, softwood, hardwood and blends. What brand pellet is that? My super premiums burn more completely and leave less hot embers in the burn pot. My Big Heats and Green Supremes don't burn as completely and leave a large pile of hot embers.

This was after I shut it down to clean the stove quick. All those embers weren't burning but just smoldering. That is with real good pellets.

What concerns me is after 8-9 hours overnight, new pellets aren't making it too far into the pot, sometimes when I open the hopper, there is a little smoke in there. I try to keep scooping ash every few hours if I'm home. I really like my Englander, keeps my house much warmer than oil for significantly less money.

thats crazy that its normal. i wish it would clear it better so i could let it run without worrying....I get about 14 hours out of a hopper on those settings....what are you getting?

I'm running mine in C Mode and I get 12 hours on 9, about 14 on 7.

what is your feed air numbers? i had it on a thermostat and i wouldn't even get 8 hours out of a hopper on 6-9, 2-8-1, put the pin back in and my hopper lasted much longer.

Correct. For 2 auger pellet stoves (Englander), the bottom 3 buttons only adjust air and pellet-feed in stove temp 1 and 2.

thats normal with the model. I have never seen mine not do that. I have a 4" metal paint scraper that i keep near the stove. I open her up 2x a day while on and just move that to the side. once before work and once before bed. on the weekends i vacuum the sides where i've put the ash all week. I have forgotten to do this a couple of times, and while the pile did get a little higher, and the burn a little dirtier, it doesnt appear to have done any damage. I do believe the pile can only get so high as the new incoming pellets push some of the pile out eventually. It does need attention at least twice a day tho.

My 25-PDVC has been doing this also this year. I don't recall it happening in previous years and haven't touched the Mode settings. I was thinking it was the pellets this year. I do the same with a 4-inch taping knife to keep it clean.

Thats what mine looks like when we set the heat 1-3, at 4 or higher its more fluffy-like ash. Im not worried
