What is the rule of thumb for replacing the door gasket? My Astoria is heading into its 5th winter. I adjusted the door once (disaster broke a bolt on the latch had to call the stove shop to rescue me) If i do the dollar bill test and it seems fine then do I not need to worry about the gasket?

If it past the test all good . But there's also price of mind ! You can always order the gasket and have it on hand .

I am also replacing the door gasket on my stove... Quadrafire CB1200... I have heat rated silicone for 500 degrees. Is that enough or should it be rated for higher? Also, how much silicone do I use? Is a single bead enough or do I need to get it all over the channel and up to the edges? Worried about sealing the smoke and co so it doesn't leak out the front of the door.
