Easy Fix - Englander 25-PDVC Auto Igniter

Been seeing a couple of guys having problems with their auto ignite on the 25-PDVC

I spoke to the Englander support after i was too having problems with getting mine to start after 3 times.

He suggested a very easy fix. If you locate the igniter housing, right on top of it there is a little metal cap, just pop it off. It allows a better air flow. Next start up i could see a big difference in the brightness of the "glow" from the igniter. Started up in 3 mins.

Does this only apply to certain years?
I haven't had a problem in a few years and when it happened it was the small orifice to the right of the burn pot being clogged (poor cleaning technique)

my stove is a 2011... the support guy said he didn't know why they added that to begin with, do i'd say most likely the newer models.

It was added so the stove can reliably ignite at higher altitudes among other reasons.

Also the igniter work a lot better if the air flow isn't restricted by the igniter itself. This happens when the igniter sits to far forward in the tube.

It is the very hot air flow that starts the pellets burning.

MY 25 Pdvc took 5-10 mins to light, it's a 2005 so I just grabbed a small handful of pellets and some hand sanitizer and lit it from the start.
