I was walking down a trail today and was sliding around a bit as I didn't have cleats or snowshoes on. Then I though what if I had an electric snow scooter I could throw in the back of the Jeep?

Anyone every seen one of these?

I accidentally saw a video of the Widescape WS250... I'm certain one would solve winter dog walking for me...

Looks pretty cool and fun. I haven't seen those before. My first concern is minor but is still somewhat of an issue for me: the battery size versus the "fast" charging

The battery is effectively 1,216 wh. And "fast" charge is 4 hours? That means it charges at 300w max.

I have battery stations of 2,048wh that charge in 80 minutes. Even without charging at fastest speed, at 600w the 2,048 battery station would still only take 3.4 hours.

The biggest concern for me is that they say the battery is Lithium. It may be Lifpo4, but with the charge time I'm thinking it may be older, less safe tech.

I guess I'll will dig out the snowshoes and the boot cleats. I used to do the cross country skiing a bit, but my knees are not 100% like they were when I was 18. I don't really don't like walking on anything where I don't have a good grip. If I had one of those I'm sure to wipe out anyway. What I need is a sit-on one that I can load into the back of my Jeep, can carry 250lb (and the money to buy it)

Check out backcountry xc skis. I ski classic, not skate style. The back country skis are less lively than my regular skis. They’re shorter, thicker, have less glide surface, and have metal edges like downhill skis.

You can go out in pure ice and the edges cut in and give great control. They are pretty slow in comparison though. I use them most when I go out with my wife. She doesn’t move fast and the slower ski and greater work out keeps me occupied.

If I go out with my kid, I now need my fast skis and still get overworked. But she’s one of those uber athletic types, and I’m past my prime, lol.

Skis have come a long way and are way more specialized than they were 10-15 years ago, much less when I first started skiing 40 years ago. Bindings are much different too! Check out what’s available. You may find something that suits your needs.

Those would be better for sure. It's been a long time since I used cross country skii's...I think I was 22? At some point I decided with my ACL's blown ect my knee's didn't have the stability. I dug out my boot spikes and some boots. I can just keep them on. It works out good as the only good place to ski would be our Confederation Trail, which was a railroad. I actually like going to a place in the woods that has hiking trails. Then if we get a snowfall, I will dig out my deluxe snowshoes. I'll leave the cross country skiing to the fitter folks.

A rail trail is nice and flat. That can be good and bad, lol. The scenery would have to be pretty or I’d get bored!

I haven’t used snowshoes in a while. They just sit in the basement, lol. I got bit something fierce on quality with them. I started with a pair from a well known retailer. Complete garbage! Then I found a pair of Atlas at a yard sale for something like $30. They were awesome. When I eventually broke them I bought the same brand and have been happy with them.
