Englander 10-CPM Multi-fuel Question

I recently bypassed the hopper switch while troubleshooting frequent power downs (realized it occurred only after adding pellets). Bypassing the switch has eliminated the power downs so I am confident I have found the root cause, the question I have is are there any pros/cons to leaving it bypassed permanently or should I purchase and replace the switch? Thanks in advance for any advice. GB

It is a safety feature ... Why would you compromise you and your family's safety? Is it malfunctioning or are you just leaving the hopper open too long? Has it been knocked out of it's proper position and only needs an adjustment? It's only $17...

I believe it is malfunctioning as the switch's contact is touching the hopper lid when closed. I did not realize that it is a safety switch...will replace asap. Thanks for the assistance

is it "clicking" before the lid is all the way closed, it is adjustible on that model if its not doing so, you would need to remove the 4 screws that hold its "box" to the underside of the top, look on the side of the box the mounting screws are through slotted holes which allow the switch's "angle of attack" to be raised or lowered to allow the switch to poke out through the hole enough to engage before the lid actually comes to rest on the top of the stove

Hi Mike - at the moment it clicks before the lid is closed all the way but keep in mind that I had removed and examined the switch before bypassing it so it could have been initially in a misaligned position. Do these switches occasionally malfunction?

Under normal circumstances how long does lid have to open for the switch to disengage the pellet feed

its instantly, when that circuit is open the auger circuit is dormant until the switch is closed again, now even with that switch open the auger will rotate if the on buitton is held in or the stove is set to diagnostic to test the motor.

and yes occasionally those switchees go bad although usually they will not "click" normally when they do or the arm gets broke off or somthing of that nature
