Hello all this is my first post. I have been stalking the forums for about a month or 2 and would like opinions that matter. I buy a pellet stove insert this summer but after looking for 5 months I'm just all confused. I went to my local stove store and they quoted me about $6500 for one of the top of the line stoves. I'm all thats A LOT of dough then quoted me one for $5500. Essentially my budget is between 2000-3000 and I'm wondering is the Englander 25 insert is any good. This would be my first stove and I am completely new to all of this. I was hoping for any other suggestions because it seems like this forum is nice and ppl are in know and know based off experience. So any suggestion???

Sorry forgot a little more info. Our home is 1800sf and we are looking for a pellet stove to help offset the cost of oil which is pretty pretty high.

I spent the past couple of months looking for a pellet insert, and while I am new to pellet stoves, I feel like I got a lot of good info on what is out there. The Englander stove you are looking at got lots of good reviews, and people seem pretty happy with it. The customer support from the company is supposed to be incredible. The biggest knock I saw from people is that the pellets sometime stick to the sides of the hopper and need to be pushed down by hand occasionally. If you are installing this yourself, you will definitely will save a bundle, but if you have it installed professionally, it will probably run you close to $1000 for parts and labor. The older Harman Accentra inserts seem to very popular and reliable, you may be able to get a good deal on a used one if you shop around.
I don't have the 25 insert, but I do like my Englander 10-CPM. I've had great help from Mike, and it's been pretty reliable, and carried the vast majority of the heat load for a 2400 sq ft. house. It's a solid stove that's not complicated and is easy to work on. Good luck with the decision.

If you can swing it, you should be able to buy a Harman P35i for $3000. You will still need to get it installed, but for $4000 total you will have a superior unit. Might be something to consider, remember you will be living with this for the next decade or so.Thanks you guys for the quick response. I think it has made my decision a little easier. I found a local dealer that sells it. I'm going to check it out. How hard is it to install myself?

Not sure if this helps but just had an harman accentra 52i installed for $5200 totall if u go with the black finish u can shave another $400 off of the price installed. I ended up getting the brown enamel finish. I don't know wich stove is best but I ended up getting a harman because of how highly recommended they are on this site so good luck with your stove shopping
All you need is the ability to understand the mfgrs install instructions , the local/state venting code , and some basic mechanical skills or have friend who knows more about it than you do. But your insurance company might want it done by a certified installer.

Love my 25EP. Got it for 1000 new and self installed. Not sure if you could fid any refuse out there, but make sure you budge for piping, hearth pad etc.

I have an Englander PAH that I bought 2 years ago for $1000 through AM/FM energy.com and I've been very happy with it. No problems to date and it heats the whole house in cold NH winters.
