Englander 25-PDV Blower going?

Hello I am a Newbie Pellet Stove Owner and I bought a used 25-PDV for $500 and set it all up myself. It went kinda smoothly and was running great for the first few days. Then It started making a very loud grinding noise which I had guessed was one of the augers. But as I narrowed down the issue the sound went away when I turned down the blower setting. I took out the blower and removed the motor and following directions I had read here oiled it and replaced it. I was great for about a day and then the grinding noise again. Both augers look rather new so I am guessing the previous owner replaced those. The blower looks rather old so I am still going by the theory that the blower needs to be replaced. I have read that you do not need to spend the $160 to replace the entire blower. Is there a way to replace just the motor? Or get a better quieter motor? Any help or thought would be appreciated thanks!

Before you go for just the motor, make sure that you can remove the wheel/impeller from the shaft. After the extremes that the wheel and shaft are exposed to they often get stuck to each other. If the wheel gets bent or damaged it will always rattle and will ultimately cause failure of the motor bearings.

I assumed that you are referring to the combustion blower, but the same caveats apply to the convection blower.
 
Make certain that those augers are aligned, sometimes people install new parts but don't follow all of the instructions.

Try to isolate that grinding noise before tossing blowers at it.

So which blower is associated with the "Blower Speed" button on the control board? That is the on that makes the sound fade as I lower it. Would the Augers produce less sound if I lower the blower speed?

The blower speed control is for the convection blower. The combustion blower is controlled proportional to the feed (burn) rate.
Before you replace the convection blower, make sure that it is really clean. packed dust and animal fur or spider webs can set the blower off balance causing it to vibrate at higher speeds.

If the noise starts after the stove is up to temperature (This is when the room fan starts) then that motor should be the culprit.
The 4C447 Grainger part number motor you have off is the one that changes speed with the control board. You can sometimes find them on Flea Bay.

Been running Englander and USSC biomass stoves for over 20 years now (before they became popular). Looks to me like it's an old style (impregnated bronze bushed) motor. I'd upgrade with a Grainger motor ((broken link removed)) that has ball bearings. That way when they go south (and they will eventually) you can replace them with new bearings from a bearing distributor like Detroit Ballbearing. Soal the set screw in the blower cage with PB Blaster for a while, or apply some heat with a propane torch and remove the cage from the motor shaft. They like to freeze on..

The one you pointed to is a sleeve bearing, not as long lasting as a ball bearing motor.

I guess what I am asking is are they all the same? How do I know which one will work with the blower housing? Is there a number off of the one I have that I can use to match up which motor I can buy?

Yes, call them and tell them what motor number you are replacing.

Hi Sammcat00, (wind is now talking back to ya) LOL

I checked the link for the Amazon motor and it doesn't look exactly as the original.
So my question is did it bolt up to the blower housing and were there any issues attaching the squirrel cage?
Also looks like the amazon motor has attachment bolts sticking out of both sides and if so was that an issue?
