Enviro EF2I Insert Coming

Greetings all,

I will be having an EF2I insert installed on Dec 7 to help heat our 1200sqft 3Br Ranch. It was a left over floor model. I got it for $3350.00 installed to include a full chimney liner. My hope is to cut sown on the amount of oil used.

I am a complete pellet stove noob so I hope you all are ready for a barrage of questions to include a few stupid ones.

I am hoping that there will be a second wave of pellet availability and that the demand will stay fairly low from the "Pigs" already getting theirs, and prices do not go through the roof over the next month or so.

Well they were able to come early and install my insert. Unfortunately I was not able to be home during the install. My wife was home and it appears everything went well. The stoves been running since about 3:00pm and its been 73* in here since then.

They left me with 4 bags of curran pellets not sure if these are good or bad. They seem kind of dusty.

One thing I have noticed is what seems to be an irregular amount of pellets that drop. Sometimes there seems to be about a dozen pellets then about 10 seconds later i can here what sounds like 2 or three then another 20 seconds and another dozen. This is giving me a very uneven flame height.

Right now I am running in "auto" mode with the dial a fire knob at 10:00 and the damper just slightly open, any more and theres a lot of sparks flying around. I imagine after a few days I will find the best most efficient combination.

I think I am going to have to call the dealer and let him know that they did not install the heat tube cleaning rod.

Well thats all for now, trust me I will have plenty of questions so get ready

congrats on the new stove. The uneven drop of pellets is common and I wouldnt be to concerned. Each time the auger turns it will push a few pellets out. Depending on the size of pellets you may get more or less to drop each time.

Hello

I rebuilt an EF2i Free Standing a couple of months ago. Very easy to work on and easy to get parts for. These stoves made by Sherwood Industries Ltd in Canada http://www.enviro.com/ for 10 years are very easy to get parts for. In fact I called their toll free number and asked for parts, the parts man was not only very knowledgeable but also very kind and courteous as well!

The stoves are really built strong and will last many years. Good luck

I have 2 Enviros and both do the same thing.Not sure of other brands or if it's just an Enviro thing.

Congrats on the new stove. I had the freestanding version for years and just took it off line.
Great stove. Dependable and easy to maintain.

When the igniter craps out on you (it happens) they are very easy to light with a blowtorch.

To start mine,
I would throw in a handful of pellets into the burn pot.
Turn dial a fire to the 12 O'clock position.
Put the room air knob to off (all the way counterclockwise) Heats the stove up faster.
Auto/Man switch to Man
Hit the pellets in the burn pot with the torch for about 20 seconds. Until the flames would catch on their own.
Close door and wait for the green light to come on. (about 5 minutes)
Then turn on room air to speed desired (I kept mine at about the 9 O'clock position)
Then switch Auto/Man to Auto.

Damper should be adjusted (depending on pellets) as required to get nice active flame. But no pellets jumping out of pot
I used to run mine out 1/4" from full in for almost all pellets.

When cold, Cleaning is a snap,
Use 5-in-1 tool to scrape burnpot liner (about every 3 days)
Vac out whole burn chamber.
Use vac tube to clean out the two side ash traps.
Remove the heat excanger plate on top of box and vac all around heat exchanger pipes.
Use pull knob to scrape the heat exchanger pipes (close door first) DAMHIKT!
If easy to get to empty vent T cleanout.
Clean window glass. ( I use damp paper towel and some ash from burnpot if necessary)

About once a ton do above plus....... pull out unit and open sides.
Remove both blowers and clean them
Clean entire vent path from combustion blower to vent rain cap
Oil Convection blower (3in1 Blue Can)
Vac out back side of stove (pet hair, etc.)

Hello Jon, let me add congrats on your choice the EF2 and EF3 are pretty much bullet proof- hope you got your cleaner rod put in- we see that a lot when we go out and clean people's stoves. Hopefully they put in the top baffle (the trapezoidal plate that fits into the top) correctly as well. A couple of things air damper adjustment should be about 1.5 inches out typically for about a 12 o'clock setting for the dial-a-fire (its not real critical if you're burning good pellets, but I will tell you most magnehelic settings will be about 1.5 inches out). Its very nice having continuously variable feed and convection blower settings too, and when the green light comes on (indicating proof of fire has been achieved) and the toggle switch is in auto, the convection blower will shut off auto after dial a fire has been turned off. Enjoy your stove, that is our main pellet stove brand in our store. Good luck.
