Euromax from Hell

Well, last year I bought the big ass Euromax, it puts out the heat of but it just eats pellets, even on the lower settings, many calls to their "tech" support, who said they have some know issues but no way of fixing them, very inconsistent heat between heat setting, on setting 2 it will use about 40 pounds in 9 hours on setting 3 it will use 40 pounds in 11 hours, on setting 4 it will use 40 pounds in 6 hours, this is not even close to what the techs told me, a million adjustments later and 2 service calls and 1 replaced auger, it's still no better. Their tech support is a joke, one guys said my pellets were 2 small and that's why their feeding so fast, when I counter with, doesn't auger speed stay they same time for feed rate, he had no answer. I put green teams, barefoot, Lignetics and even the stupid walmart brand thru it and it was all the same. I cannot afford 12 tons to make it thru the winter. this thing eats them like crazy. Another tech said the Canadian Pellets are longer than our and create a natural bridge for the pellets, which make some sense unless you factor in feed rate, which they have adjusted about 12 or times... stove is easy to clean and blower is very strong. I was wondering if anyone else out there has had any problems with their Euromax or am I just the lucky one.

Do you have the stove setup on a thermostat or are you letting it run wild?

Isn't there setting in the controller to reduce feed rate. Though I saw a vid of the controller on youtube and the back pages has some feed adjustments.

That's my fear with my P68...this is my first year burning pellets so I'm not sure what to expect as far as pellet consumption. I haven't fired it up yet, because it's still 14°C here. I bought a big stove because it's in my finished basement, but I'm afraid it may be a hungry beast too.

Probably not as bad as you think. The stove is pretty smart. Read the sticky on top of the page about Harman stoves.

I have a thermostat but I prefer it to just run low and slow for a constant heat, I know I could save a little on pound usage but if it ran to there specs this shouldn't be an issue, it is feeding 4X more than it should, the "tech" actually told me that if I ran it constant I could get temps in my house in the 90s, so I countered with, that's impossible if it has a set feed rate and BTU rate/hr, and he was confused by that, so I broke it down like this, That's like saying if I kept my foot on the accelerator in my car doing 10MPH, in an hour I could be doing a 100mph....he got the point, the feed rate is adjusted thru the touch pad by code, as is all the functions...they were suppose to be working on an update on a memory card to send out to users but nothing as of yet....its almost a 3500.00 paperweight if I decide to change it out, unfortunately if they can't adjust this year when I start using it, I may have to...their customer service stinks

the fuel consumption doesnt look all that off except your 2 and 3 settings look to be backwards on a 4 setting the stove would generate about 54,000 btu that would mean you would go threw about 6.5 pounds in 1 hour of run time 6.5lb x6 comes out to 39 lbs

You could easily get temps into the 90's burning on low depending on the temp outside and insulation.

Its not like your car speed analogy. If you are adding more heat than you are losing the the temps in the house will heat up until you hit the point where it is equal. You could see temps over 100.

Customer service is up to your dealer... manufacturers help is a joke (except for England's).... your dealer should be your first contact.

Near the end of the season we where hit with a power surge and it fried the panel on the stove. Of coarse no warranty. Dump a__ me did not have a surge protector. Any way I now have a new board and have started to use the stove again on cool days. The boards where not the same and I was told my old one was discontinued . The new board now has a setting for the combustion blower speed. I was wondering if your board was the same as my new one because the stove on low now is using a lot more pellets then old board. The flame before on low was only a few inchs high. Now is like 6 inches high. Getting concerned now that I have read this post.

Thanks for clarifying the inside temp quote.

It does sound like to me you have a flakey board. If I saw the specs correctly for your stove it says on low it produces 10k btus. Which would last you something like 28 hours.
A jump to using a bag in 9 hours seems quite excessive.

according to an email last year between me and a tech, on heat setting 2 it should be 2.2 pounds an hour, in my email which I had forgot about, my stove at the time was burning for hours for 12 hours on heat setting 2 and heat level 1 and used roughly 60 pounds..... and that's when all the fun began with all the adjustments....he did tell me on the phone what each setting should burn but I can't find the paper, but I am sure I will be calling them again and get the numbers.

Different stove but similar btus rating

All numbers are approximates

Setting
1=2lbs/hr
2=3.25/hr
3=4.5/hr
4=5.5/hr
5=6.5/hr

Pellets that are longer or not as dense will lower these numbers a tad,just as small and dense pellets will raise these numbers

Your method is slightly flawed one you have to take into account the start up cycle and two you would need to take into account that there are most likely still some pellets in the hopper i have never see a pellet stove that burns every single pellet when it runs out of fuel.

How long are your pellets?
