Faint smell of smoke

This smell starts when the room air blower turns on. During start up I get the firebox that has the smoke until ignition and smell nor see nothing. There are only 3 joints that I have, adapter to stove, 90' elbow to adapter, 2ft double wall Simpson duravent to 90' elbow. Thimble and oak are sealed. All the joints are heavily sealed with high temp silicone. I took a flame around the door and didn't see it being sucked in at all. The only thing that is not taped or sealed is the oak flex pipe to the adapter on back of burner for fresh air. Could this be what is causing this? I have a plug in and a digital Carbon monoxide detector in the room where the burner is. The digital one reads zero. I am getting stumped on where this is coming from. I did a search on this topic and read a few possibilities but none to which helped me. Thanks for the suggestions. I have a country flame crossfire. Stove was cleaned on Wednesday. I probably only have 10 bags thru it so far.

I gave up on using tube silicone when trying to seal venting joints and went to self fusing silicone tape. It is 1 inch in width and when stretched tight around a joint you know that joint is being covered so no possible pin holes. Easier to remove later too. Elbows are a known problem. Try checking in a dark room with a flashlight for the blue wisp on startup

That's an interesting idea. I see the see the 3M brand is good for 352df operating temperature. Have you had any trouble with it melting or going soft? The aluminum tape leaves a sticky mess and is difficult to remove.

Are your windows tight? I sometimes get a slight whiff of smoke in my house from neighbors wood burners.

I tried the stuff from Gardner Bender item HTP-1010, found in electrical section. Operating range of -60 to 500 F. Going to use some on some tool handles. No chance of wrinkles because you stretch it unlike foil tape. And its black.

They infuse theirs with gold or platinum? Ten foot by 1 inch roll I got was less than $7. Wait I see it has a blue line

Sorry that tape was designed for military use so it has the price tag to match

I thought I had a leaky pipe in one of our stoves but couldn't find it as I examined them. Finally decided to replace my door gasket more as a routine matter on a used stove I'd purchased even though it was burning well. Fixed the smoke smell problem completely and the stove burns even better. So you might want to check that as a possible source.

I have not smelled the smoke smell since I got up this morning. Either ash plugged the leak or it was the burn smell from year to year after you start it for the first time. I am still going to get some of the silicone tape just in case the smell comes back. The installer checked the gasket back in September and said it was good. I took a flame around the door while the burner was running and the flame did not flicker or get pulled in. Thanks for the ideas/suggestions
