Local HD and Lowes just got pellets in for first time since about October. HD has their typical Stove Chow, which I avoid, but Lowes has Timber Heat, a brand I have never tried. I am stocked up for the season, but often buy a few test bags of new pellets if they look promising, to test burn for the future. Before I do that, any feedback on this brand? A search revealed only one comment in passing...

My Lowes in Flemington NJ just got these. They are in white bags with a Nov 2014 date-code. Biomaxx bought the Pittsford NY Dry Creek pellet plant.

They burn pretty good, much less ashy than this years Stove Chows. I wished I had bought 3 tons of those in the fall....instead of the Stove Chows.

Thanks for reply. Will pick up a couple of bags and try as well.

I burned a few bags of my buddies trying to sort out my feed issues with Heatr's pellets. They burned good, a touch cooler and dirtier than the Heatr's. They didn't hang up in the hopper like the Heatr's which was nice. I'd buy some if I was getting a good price.

Well, I'll answer my own question... Picked up a bag to try, and was pleasantly surprised. While not noted on bag (that I noticed, anyway) I suspect these were softwoods. Pine smell, reasonable heat, and very dark ash that resembled softies I have burned in past. Low amount of ash equal in quantity to Ultram Premium hardwoods. Would burn these at same price as Presto's, as heat was just a bit more or same, and ash was less. Based on a single bag, this is a decent pellet.

Just showed up in my world @ 259/ton at Lowes. Good shoulder pellet vs. FSU?

Saw some at Lowes in Concord, NH this afternoon. They don't say on bag if they are soft, hard or a blend and I had never heard of them, so didn't pick up any to try. Maybe if I get back in that direction, I'll get a couple of bags.

Picked up 20 bags last spring, they seem to be ok for a shoulder season pellet.

My first year with these. I tried 2 bags of New Englands last night after a clean out and heat didn't compare to these Timber heat. So I quickly changed back this morning. I have a ton in my basement and will continue to use them. Only I noticed was my glass gets dirty quick and ash build up, but the heat output is great. My local HD has many pallets of these this year. No stove chow.
