First burn and it's blowing smoke

Hey everyone,

I just wrapped up my pellet stove install and I tried my first burn. All went well until the blower turned on. After a couple minutes it started to blow smoke into the room. The startup smoke didn't enter the room and vented as expected out the roof. It didn't start until the blower went on.

I did not install the OAK kit as I live in a drafty old colonial. Am I maybe leaking smoke out the back and it's pulling from there and sending it out?

Any insight is appreciated. It's off now and safe. Just want to figure this out. Thanks!

Take it that this is a new stove and its first burn.
If so, run it hot for a little while to burn off assembly oil
most likely the smoke you see. Open a couple of windows
so it does not get too warm in the house and to clear the smoke

Thanks for the response. I am leaning towards that it's smoke from being an initial burn since when the smoke from the ignition was happen, it was billowing out the chimney and smoke filled in the chamber until the fire started and it cleared as expected. It wasn't until a couple minutes later it started blowing smoke where it should be blowing hot air. I'll run it again in the morning to check.

That said it was enough smoke to be quite noticable and set off a smoke detector. Again could be totally normal but it caught me guard. I have foil tape waiting in case some extra sealing needs to happen.

Just an update. I'm running it right now and no smoke. I'm guessing it was likely the assembly oils and whatnot burning out. Now it's just clear heat with the paint curing smell.
