Found this old stove under a set of stairs in a garage any idea what it is?

An antique woodstove. Before using it, I'd check for holes.

Looks like an old Jotul F118. Good stoves, a bit smoky compared to current stoves, but a willing heater as @begreen says.

Its a Jotul "clone" with an obvious crack on one side. There were numerous "clones" of these stoves made by generally third world countries at the time The was typically no quality control and cracks in castings were a known issue. There were instances of the side casting failing while burning and spilling coals out the side. A dangerous device, beyond scrap value, the only uses are outdoors. Some folks set them up with a stack outdoors and use them to boil maple syrup other use them as a architectural object in a garden on possibly as a planter.

Good catch, didn't see that it was a clone or had damage on my small screen.

Definitely a knockoff, most likely from Taiwan. The crack indicates there is a possibility that it was run without the protective inner burn plates. Scrap it or make it a garden planter.

definitely bad that same side is warped. can't successfully seal it to run when warped
