If you think prices are bad in the lower 48, check these prices out:eek:

Multiply the prices by 3.75 for approx. prices per U.S gal. in Canadian cents. Multiply that result by .9 foe price per U.S. gal. in U.S. cents. You can do the math for U.S. dollars from there.!!!

That's over $4.50 USD for a US gal of gas and almost $4.10USD for a US. gal of heating oil. #1 heating oil would be more than that.<>

Reduced refined product inventories, seasonally increased demand and unscheduled technical and weather related refinery and distribution system interruptions have contributed to the current situation."

Oh this type of crap really irritates me. I call BS.

Sounds like the speech last Tuesday. Good waste of over an hour but it provided the cartoonists some good material.

Here In Connecticut I just payed 3.88 for heating oil and that was if payed In 14 days.3.98 after that.my friend who has propane to heat in his home said it is at it's highest ever.

Neighbour got fuel oil on the 28 Jan.
$1.22.9 a liter =464.562 per US gallon
Glade I have not bought oil for 12 years
Thats the price in Eastern Ontario
 
i buy discount no contract cash oil . right now my cheapest place is $3.75 . most are in the $4 neighborhood .
 
I hear propane in southwest MI is $4.29 and up per gallon.
 
I checked yesterday and in the thumb area of mi it is 3.86 gal.

Big deal! Go visit Germany and fill your tank. Expect to pay around $7.76 per gallon converted to euro. LOVE your Weimie!!

ya, seems about right, leganbauer is at 4.15. they just came friday, 30 gallons in 6 weeks for DHW and core temp in the boiler hhahahahahah. pellet cost so far, 800.00 and i still have two ton left!!!

It would be less in US dollars, by about 11% right now. But that doesn't help if you buy with Canadian dollars.

I don't ignore the prices because, like other folks on the forum, I use my pellet stoves as supplemental heat sources to my oil fired FHA heating system:p

I locked in at $3.59 last summer for the 335 gal I reserve each year. I usually burn about 250gal.

My last one was with me for 16 years! This guys 2 1/2 yo. I don't think I could get a different breed:cool:
 
Checked Friday, Central NY $4.349 per gallon For home heating oil!!! 150 gal. minimum= $652.35 No thanks, good till September

If you'd ever been to PEI you would know that first, the native wood lot growth is stunted because of the salt air and most of the good land is used for potatoes and other agricultural crops. People have their own land that some use for fire wood. Second, because of insurance regulations, it is almost impossible to insure a house that is heated by wood. Even a pellet stove has to be installed by a licensed tech before an insurance company will cover it. 5 years ago it cost 6 to 8 hundred dollars for an easy pellet stove install. Third, the Confederation Bridge determines the final cost of all goods purchased on the Island. Oil is brought in by ship to the terminals in Charlottetown. But cordwood, pellet stoves, chainsaws, wood pellets, etc. are all trucked in. It is free to get on the island by way of the Bridge or the ferry. But to get off the island the price starts at $45.00 for four axles and then each axle beyond will add $7.50 to the toll. You have scales to contend with too, if you truck goods in and inspections when leaving. That's shipping time cost.

So that's why wood stoves are not a good option to heat your house with on PEI and even pellet stoves are more expensive than places off Island. Heat pumps are the flavor of the day up there but folks have started to get sticker shock on their power bills. Electricity is a taxable item (17% I believe) and you can spend a lot to heat your house.
 
We visited PEI in the fall and as I recall, a lot of driveways had a load of splits on it. Must have been recently delivered.
