I currently have an opportunity to trade my 3 year old XXV for a brand new P43. I am heating a 1900 square foot house in VT.
On the coldest days, I will only go through 1.5 bags. My thinking was; the P43 should be able to burn through 3 bags per day. I am basing this purely on BTU capabilities of the stove, and BTU's of the pellets I burn. So I would think the P43 would be plenty big enough to heat my house. Last winter we went through 3 tons. I am hoping 3 will be enough this year, but we have used 2 already, so I am not optimistic.
I wanted to check with everyone to make sure my logic is sound. I don't want to get into a stove that is too small.
And do you think it is worth it to trade a 3 year old $4,000 stove for a brand new $3,000 stove?
