Got home from work to find an Amazon box, about the right size for my new Fiskars X27. Ordered it from them, since all the local shops have gone to the black on black (newer?) version of this axe, and I like the orange ended handle. Anyway, picked it up to go inside, when the weight hit me. I thought they called this thing an 'axe'? Felt like they shipped me a ten pound maul, instead. Opened the box, and there lay two shiny X27's !! Immediately checked my account, and sure enough, they'd only charged me for the one. I gotta tell ya, there was a moment or two of indecision, but the better nature won out, and I'm sending it back.

;) Now, if they'd mistakenly sent me a nice kinetic splitter? Well ... ;)
;hm I guess we'll cross that bridge, when we come to it. ;hm

Cheers, all.

I would send it back but my experience is that usually they just say keep it.... Happened to me 2 or 3 times now, mainly cus I but tons of stuff online.

Good for you. Bezos lost six million on his stock when it tanked this week. He can't afford to give axes away.

Can't honestly say I've done the "right" thing every single time but usually I do. Tough thing having a conscience, never get rich w/ one. In this case I would've called them and asked what they wanted me to do. Good to know there are still some honest people out there WriteNoob.

I did call. The young guy said just that. Wow!

Guess I've got an extra, of an axe that's never supposed to break, and that has a lifetime warranty if it ever does. Maybe I'll donate it to my buddy who's given me all the wood. I'll have to see if he'll ever actually use it, though. If not, can't hurt to have a spare, I guess.

Very cool. But it is nice to know you did the right thing.

I am sure if you keep talking about an extra, and then espouse the greatness of it once you use it, you might just find a member on here who would be willing to accept your humble donation ==c

I'm sad (sorry, SD) to report that the aforementioned friend has already gotten the extra. He has after all not only supplied me with more than a years supply of firewood (the Scots Pine, in my signature), cut, split, and delivered. But, just last weekend, he donated three decent sized white oaks to the cause. With that, one large catalpa, a couple of small mulberries, and a number of medium to largish elms that I have yet to drop in my immediate neighbors' yards, I'm sitting in a much better position than I thought I'd be. But he was there, at the start, with that but-load of pine. He was most impressed with the axe, and very appreciative of the gift. Feel good day, all the way around, for yours truly. :)

good job handing off the extra... I've beat the hell out of my x27 and I don't see it giving in anytime soon

Interesting, after splitting 8 frozen cords effortlessly, I looked down to admire my axe and consider a sharpen. Thats when I noticed the plastic was cracked on the inside of the handle near the steel. Went through with a warranty claim a few weeks ago, (purchased from Amazon) and Fiskars sent me a replacement!
One of the better tools I own, enjoy!
