Wanted to see what you all thought about this floor. House built in 1977 and have this hardwood part of downstairs and all of upstairs. The boards are about 1.5 inches wide so pretty narrow. I’ve called a nearby reputable family pest control place to look at floor and the guy said it looked like evidence of old bug issue but not current. I mentioned I use firewood so was thinking about powder post beetles and termites. He was not worried about the floor at all. I’ve noticed that in addition to the d- shaped indentations, I see that in several different parts of the floor throughout house, the edge of floor board almost looked chipped, as seen in the pics.
Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

Looks to me like shrinkage from dry winter climate inside?

Looks like normal wear and tear on the edges of the boards (splintering) and shrinkage due to dry air as mentioned. The little d shape was probably bug damage before becoming a floor and your just noticing it now because your focused on it. Also it could have been filled when installed and that filler has worked its way out.

It’s not new damage.

Look around for fresh sawdust and mud tunnels if you’re worried about PPB and termites.
