Hello

Time for a Harman Auger upgrade! ! !

The auger was jammed solid. Luckily I got the set screw out since it was easily accessible with a socket wrench. However the auger motor shaft was so bound up and wedged into the base of the auger, when pulling the auger off, the shaft snapped!

The sealed auger bearing in the old auger did have resistance when I spinned it and I could feel a flat spot. So a new updated auger will make the stove work like new!

My question is:
Why are all the new Harman Augers open at the end with a slot?

(Is it so the auger does not heat up as much and runs cooler and lasts longer?)

See yellow and red arrows in pics below, click to Enlarge
Red arrow shows motor shaft stuck in auger
Yellow arrows show new tip design

That's the auger for the pc45 so that it can stir the corn to prevent clinkers. Theres a fingered rod that plugs into the hole.

Thanks for the info, because the Harman Dealer said that is what they use for all the stoves!
I would say you are correct but maybe it is used for other stoves also?

I bet he sold it to me because the new augers are out of stock!

I found this Older style Harman Auger on this site with the slot. I do like it better than the new Auger and it does fit fine.
