Harman P38+ Auger Annoying Sounds..

New. Anybody else having auger noise (moaning/groaning/humming, (yea I know!!) & pellets "clinkering" . Like pellets hitting the metal plate. Neighbor has one 3 years old and its quiet. Don't recall it sounding like this in show room. Curious before I go/call dealer..

With my P68 you can hear the auger motor but it is very quiet. You can also hear the pellets dropping off the slide plate into the auger cavity, but I don't find it bad, annoying or irritating, it just is.

My P68 is pretty noisy when it's cycling down. The dealer replaced the feed motor which did nothing. I didn't feel like he really had any idea what the cause of the sound was. Since the dealer seems stumped, I plan on trying someone new to look at it. I find fixing the little annoying things on stoves is a bigger pain than if something just craps out. It's hard to test things out, which requires firing up the stove, then if that doesn't work, you have to wait for things to cool down before you start taking more parts out. Or sometimes they can lube it up enough so it doesn't make the sound when they're here, but it's not curing the problem, only masking it. This is starting to sound like a rant, sorry! If you figure it out, please let me know.

Well went to dealer, tech suggested to clean the fines area,which I did again, and to also pull the tray out that is in there, and clean the area. Purchased PA pellets from them, fired it back up, noise still there, clanking worse than before, and now the auger or motor squealing so bad after 3 bags that it woke me from sleep, and its at other end of the house. I've had enough. Called dealer, tech was on service call, and is to call me when he returns, so wait and see what happens... I have to say I am very disappointed.... but we won't go there right now....

At one point in time when I was getting this time and time again I called my dealer and the noise was actually coming from the auger motor. They replaced it. Now I only get squeeks when there is a lot of creosote build up around the auger in the burnpot.

If you are running on low settings the combustion air inlet flapper can swing/cycle back and forth and make the clanking noise.
This noise happens every time my stove shuts down, and often while running on room temp and stove goes into "standby".

No its not the air flapper, its when the pellets drop into the auger(tinkling) and when the auger hits an oversize pellet(clunk) and now the auger squealing (nails on a chalk board). Dealer tried to blame the pellet brand, fines and dust, and thats just the way they are.. OK great... Stove tech coming tomorrow.

Auger motor bad and replaced under warranty. The clunk of breaking pellets and pellets dropping noise, tech said is normal. Squeal is gone, moan and hum there but different pitch. Great

I'm hearing the same kind of clinking/clunking/squeaking periodically in my insert, too. My stove is less than a year old. I was thinking it might be due to some corrosion in there, as there is surface rust on the back of the stove, the ash pan, etc. We live in a valley and suffer from excessive humidity in the summer.

Sounds like a new auger helped to tame the sounds a bit but not completely fix it?

Any updates to this problem? I haven't contacted my installer yet.

No more squeal. Now Just 'normal' auger motor sound,pellets dropping and occasional pellet grind. If I get a chance I'll try to post what it sounded like.
