I have a Harman XXV that I recently moved upstairs. I have the Harman top vent option that I'd like to use with new Selkirk Direct-Temp through the ceiling/roof vent kit and I'm not sure if this will work or do I have to go with just the Selkirk kit off the back and not be able to use the Harman top vent option? Does anybody have this type of setup already and can show pictures? My goal is to have it look like a woodstove and also not have any of the oak showing or looking like it was installed haphazardly. (sp?)

Look for one of my posts relative to my DT install… My installation looks just like a wood stove. I started with the Harman top vent unit you have and ended up going all DT.

There is no where for the cold air intake to exit when using Harman's top vent option that bolts on to the back of the stove.

I've been thinking about converting my top vent to the setup the OP had done. The pipe would sit a little further back than the top vent panel but the trade off is a cold air intake.

Converting now would be a large expense if I factor in the $400 top vent kit, but that's now a sunk cost. Today it is just the cost of the 16 feet of pipe I would need and most importantly, finding time to perform the conversion.

I just installed my xxv for myself with direct temp. like they said I don't think it would work with the top vent adapter because of the oak. the dt pipe is 6 3/4 round so it looks like wood stove pipe. I really like the set up if you have room for it.

I'm going to go with the Selkirk DT piping like 'ibcynya' and get rid of the top vent kit. Anybody local (NH) interested in purchasing it?
