My health and glo 6000c-ift wou
d not let me change the fire levels so I shut it off. Took the batteries out of the remote and it started on it own. What could be the problem

Check the module underneath the firebox. The on - off - remote switch may be in the on position. It needs to be in the remote position. If it is in the remote position & the fireplace comes on by itself, it may be responding to the thermostat. Check to see what temperature it is set at.

Could very well be turned on via wall switch which will not allow the remote to interact with the module
