Got a 08 englander stove that came with the house, they said it dont work right. Thats it.
We have a old lopi now, so not familiar with the double auger or safety switches.
I think the upper auger isnt working, but im not sure if it should work immediately on start up? And does it work while hopper door is open?
We know the upper motor works since we tested with power from other auger motor. Also tested switch by blowin in it. Right now im thinkin the air in the burn chamber isnt strong enough to make the switch go on. Maybe change gaskets, then move onto the exhaust blower.
But ive never seen this stove work so maybe theres sonethin else im overlooking. Any input greatly appreciated.

A little more info would be helpful .

Which stove is it, since it's double auger it's either a pdv or pdvc, no the auger will not turn with the hopper open.

Did you test both augers with direct power or just one? I've seen quite a few Englanders with broken vacuum lines at the nipple connections. Make sure you check along length of both hoses.

its model pdv. We did test both motors , with direct power - it turned. power leads to the motor tested ok.
the only way i could test the vacuum switch was to blow into it, the tubes are all in tact - and the auger does turn -when blown into. (and that was with the hopper door open)
Im curious though- how sensitive is this switch suppose to be ? is there another way to test it?
If I were to overide that switch - the stove would work.
also - the exhaust blower is running (but kinda noisy).

How well have you cleaned it? All to internal exhaust paths since you don't know the care history.

Have you checked out England stove website for manual and troubleshooting?

Let us know what you find...

Edit: Have you checked your High limit switch, cleared probe that enters the firebox that feeds the vac line, dollar bill test door and hopper lid (if it's supposed to be sealed)?

I wouldn't expect upper auger to turn on if you blew into its vacuum switch hose, you have to provide a vacuum not a positive pressure. Maybe try jumping that vacuum switches wires and see what happens. Note that some switches can be connected to operate under vacuum or positive pressure if they have 3 electrical terminals, not sure if your stove has that though.

If exhaust blower is weak then i doubt it can generate enough vacuum to operate correctly. Not uncommon for pellet stoves to need a new exhaust blower after 8 years of service.

Same va uum issue can arise with restricted exhaust piping.

just for future reference, we replaced the switch and it worked. these switches are touchy.
also - this 08 model works with the hopper open, i even had a service tech at englander tell me it wouldnt , but not true. maybe some models have sensors on the hopper but in 08 they did not.
