I have homelite 240 that i am working on. It is loading up when trying to start and gas comes out the muffler. So i put a carb kit in and still same thing. I checked the needle pop off pressure and it held 16psi for 7 min. Compression is 120psi. Also put new carb to intake gasket on it as well. Any one have any ideas?

Is this a saw that you have run in the past, or did it come to you in this condition.

I had a weed wacker that was doing this, so I ordered the carb kit, tore it down, and replaced with what matched what I found..... Long story short, the kit came with a variety of parts to fit several carbs, and since it was rebuilt wrong before I did it, I was re-doing the same mistake. Had a play around until I found the correct diaphragm in the kit.

Just a thought.

Double check the height of the metering lever. Some are flush, some are below flush depending on which carb you have. If it is too high it lets too much fuel through. Go to the manufacture's website and it should give you the breakdown and specs for your carb.

As far as i know the saw gas never been apart. It has a walbro carb on it. I will check in to the needle height. And it really doesnt look like it has had much use at all.

I figured out the saw. The needle lever was twisted a little causing it to hit the carb housing and stick open, there flooding itself out. Thannks for the help
